New 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250s

I just bought a 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250s with 8000k miles. It's in perfect condition with new tires and heated grips. I paid $5,500 which is a fair price but I just saw the same bike on Craigslist today with 0 miles for $6,500. It never fails...

garmin mountI spent the last couple of days spending the rest of my bike budget on the other sutff I had to have:

  • Rear rack, Suzuki OEM $185
  • Top case, Bestem 929, only $90 with shipping
  • Marsee tank bag, from ebay for $60. I like the older bags that are soft. I don't much care for the newer bags with the hard plastic lids.
  • The best deal I found was a mount for my Garmin NUVI for $3.29 including shipping. At that price it's hard to pass it up.
  • I'm used to riding with hand guards from my KLR and K11RS days so I read about how well the DL650 Vstrom guards fit on the Bandit. There went another $50.
  • I could only see my shoulders in the mirrors so I had to have the mirror extender blocks found on eBay for another $20. I could have made these but given the time it would take, buying them is a better way to go.
  • pro star helmetAnother $20 and some ebay shopping got me a grunge chain cleaner, Royal Purple chain lube, some 3M reflective tape (I put strips on my wheels and a few other places (like on my helmet) so I can be seen at night.) I ended up with a couple of key blanks too as the used bike only came with one.
  • Then, I started to think twice about my favorite but getting too old helmet, a Bell ProStar. I found a great deal on a Bell Apex, so cheap that I won't even put the price here but we'll see how it works out.

My new helmet looks pretty cool. It's a Bell Apex Ripper. One reason I like my ProStar is that it's quiet. I'm hoping the Apex is quiet even though it has vents.

I have a long list of other things I'd like to get. One is a SpeedHealer to fix the speedo. I'm sure it's at least 10mph too fast at freeway speeds. A new jacket would be nice too but payday is a couple of weeks off and I've hit my bike spending limit for now. Only 100 miles on the bike and it already feels good.
