Mt. St. Helens memorial run 05/20/2011
To commemorate the erruption of Mt. St. Helens on 05/18/1980, we're doing a day ride tomorrow (Friday, 05/20) up the south and east sides of Mt. St. Helens. We're going to try to make it to the Windy Ridge viewpoint, road conditions permitting. Rich Sutherland organized the trip, and over a dozen of us will make the trip. Come join us if you're free! We will start off from the Burger King in Washougal, Washington and head east at about 9 AM.
If the Google route doesn't open in Internet Explorer, try Firefox or Google. IE9 seems to think it's a cross-scripting attack....

Mt. Hood Loop
Took the Bandit for a nice ride today. It was a 220 mile loop around Mt. Hood. Heading over to Maupin on Oregon 216, you get out of the trees into the dry east side with nice rolling hills. There was very little traffic and the weather was a nice 75 degrees with sunshine everywhere. (48 mpg - and that's with lots of wind coming back through the Dalles.)

Kahneeta run - almost...
Well, we had a GREAT ride but when we went up over Forest Rd. 42 (Skyline Rd.) it was snowed in. We tried a few other ways of getting over to US 26 but they were snowed in too. So we ran back up to Estacada, had some burgers and called it a day. The Clackamas Highway along the river is a nice ride. We were early enough in the morning that there was very little traffice.
The Bandit did great. What a nice bike! Lots of power just waiting when you need it but very easy to ride, it has so much torque that you don't have to shift much at all.
Motocam - Coolness
I made a simple mount for my FlipCam for my Bandit. It's made from PVC tubing. The bottom is a T fitting that is cut open and then clamped over the handlebars. It cost less than $5 in parts.
I'll embed a 5min. sample video below. It's kind of bumpy and I'm not sure how to get rid of that. It's still cool though.
Scott, I am trying one more time.
Scott,
I am going to try one more time to get this posted. We should got to Silver Lake when it is 70 degrees.
Jim
Let's get a ride together
Anybody out there ready for a southern and or eastern Oregon ride? I'm thinking a Sat afternoon (kids' soccer games in the am) or Sun afternoon ride through southern OR.
MotoBlog is a place where bikers can keep a blog about their rides, events and stories. It's just a hobby for me and I hope you'll enjoy the site as much as I do. It's all free and your email address will be shared with no one. Click on the sponsor's links if you're interested and you'll send a few pennies our way to support the site.
The anti-fog film on two shields I bought for my Bell Apex helmet is coming off, just after a few rides. The film on the inside starts going crazy, and it happens while you're riding. These shields were brand new and only used a few times.
